Unlike spark Ignition combustion chambers, the main important function of the combustion chamber of CI engines is to allow the injected fuel to properly mix with the pre-compressed air in a short time. In this article, we are going to discuss the different types of combustion chambers for CI Engines. In Compression Ignition engines, Turbulence […]
Internal Combustion Engines are heat engines that use the combustion of a fuel and an oxidizer (usually air) in a combustion chamber as part of the working fluid flow circuit. The combustion produces high-temperature and high-pressure gases that apply direct force to some components of the engine, such as pistons or turbine blades. The force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into kinetic energy. Internal combustion engines can be classified into two types: continuous-combustion engines and intermittent-combustion engines. Continuous-combustion engines have a steady flow of fuel and oxidizer into the engine and a stable flame within the engine. Intermittent-combustion engines have periodic ignition of air and fuel and process discrete volumes of air and fuel in a cyclic manner.
Different types of combustion chambers for SI Engines
The design of a combustion chamber for a spark Ignition Engine involves the shape of the combustion chamber, location of the spark plug and the location of the inlet valve and exhaust valve. Due to this design, the combustion chamber has a great influence on engine performance. In this article, we are going to discuss […]

Battery Ignition System in engines
In the current trend, most of the moderns SI engines run with the Battery Ignition system. In this system, the energy for producing the spark is obtained from a 6 volt or a 12-volt battery. The Ignition system is said as the heart of the engine, and it is a part of the engine, not […]
Ignition System in SI Engine
In Spark Ignition Engine the self-ignition temperature of the fuel (Petrol) is very high and the compression ratio is lower, so we must have to have an Ignition system for the SI engines. There are different Ignition Systems available. In this article, we are going to discuss the functional requirements of the Ignition system and […]

Fuel Injection in SI Engine [Fuel Injection System in Petrol Engine]
Fuel Injection systems are generally used in the Compression Ignition Engine. In Spark Ignition engine, the fuel and air supposed to mixed in the Carburetor and enters into the combustion chamber rather than the injection of fuel directly into the cylinder. But in recent times the Gasoline injection system in a Spark ignition engine has […]
